Tweet For those of you unfamiliar with my background, I am also a small business owner. I own a very successful landscaping business in my community in Bangor, Maine. Every day as I am out working diligently beautifying my customers yards, I am also plagued by the frustration of these folks who confide in me about how they are at a loss on how they are going to send their kids to college, pay their monthly bills and fear they are on the short list of their company’s lay off plan.

I listen intently. I can relate to their fear and frustration. I was there at one time. I don’t throw my company’s sales pitch into their face as that is a completely self serving act. I suggest a solution to their problem. I introduce them to the principle of network marketing and how I can help them build an MLM business that will provide residual income to them for years to come.

Trust me, over a year ago I was heaving sales pitches about my Network Marketing business left and right. If you had a pulse and were within 3 feet of me, you were going to hear about my MLM product whether you wanted to or not. It was all about me…I was hitting on everyone I knew….and the results were horrendous. I was a nuisance and a pest…and I will never go there again…ever.

As I began learning the principles of attraction marketing and about all of the network marketing business techniques Mike Dillard instills in his Magnetic Sponsoring course, I quickly began to realize that I didn’t need to sell anyone on my network marketing product. I needed to sell people on me, as a person, and on what information I could provide to help them find solutions to their financial problems.

As a small business owner, I am also surrounded by other small business owners who are extremely frustrated with the economy and how their businesses struggle on a daily basis. Fortunately, when I created my business and under the advisement of my accountant, I kept things simple and small. I don’t have a large overhead as some of my business associates do. They are borrowing money just to do payroll for their employees sitting around with nothing to do, and taking out second mortgages to pay the payments on their equipment. They are at the mercy of the banks and hope and pray they can convince the banks to keep them out of foreclosure…for just “one more year.”

As a landscape contractor, I have the luxury of taking the winters off and spending them in Florida with my Mom and Step Dad. This past winter was different. Something inside of me decided to invest in myself. I spent several thousands of dollars traveling to, and training with, some of the top Internet and Network Marketers in the world. I intently focused and spent 15 hours/day for 4 months implementing what I learned. I also spent endless hours watching videos from the top earners like Jonathan Budd, Raymond Fong, Ferny Ceballos, Mike Dillard, and I followed Jason Better’s million dollar information blog. I learned how to market using social media, e-mail marketing, video marketing, Now I know what works, and what is just a bunch of hogwash. I learned to distract myself from every other sales pitch and advertising opportunity thrown my way. I learned that the newest, latest breaking network marketing company is nothing…without a proven team of founders, team leaders and a structured educational support system in place. I am now focused on helping my team achieve the same education I have…at no cost to them.

It’s not about me anymore…it’s about helping others achieve personal and financial freedom.

Zig Ziglar  said it best when he said “You will get all you want in life, if you help enough other people get what they want”

So in the last several weeks, I have taken a step back from the Internet and decided to help those close to my home. I have helped a few college students just graduating and not being able to find a job, small business owners looking for a way to supplement their income, a real estate agent who’s sales have taken a nose dive,  and even a local teacher, who is willing to take her 3 months off this summer to focus on building a network marketing business with us…”just in case.”
